Spider-Man will achieve something amazing this September by reaching a landmark issue in his title series. Marvel will publish Amazing Spider-Man #1000 in a few months’ time and have confirmed a star-studded creative team!
All-star creative team
Marvel has promised that Amazing Spider-Man #1000 will change Peter Parker’s life forever. Writer Joe Kelly and artist Pepe Larraz will be on the main story as the current creative team. This issue will follow on from their current run but also pivot Spider-Man into the next phase of their story. Their story is titled ‘Ravaged’. More on that later.

Joining them will be a plethora of talent, telling different stories in this bumper-sized issue. Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis, J.M. Dematteis, and Dan Slott are all credited as writers so far. Alongside them will be Noah Hawley, behind hit shows Alien: Earth and Fargo, making his Marvel debut.
There is an incredible amount of talent in the art department too. John Romita Jr., Patrick Gleason, Peach Momoko, Marcos Martin, and Stuart Immonen will each be taking a turn at the web-head. Who is paired with who is yet to be fully confirmed but Bendis has said that he will be teaming up with Immonen.
Ravaged
The most intriguing element about the issue is teased on Pepe Larraz’s variant cover. Larraz’s illustration has a new villain featured: Ravage.
Ravage is shown slashing through a family portrait, likely of Aunt May and Uncle Ben. His power is described as ‘history-shattering’ and will cause Peter to question his legacy. Whoever Ravage might be, Kelly is tying them deeply to Spider-Man’s lore.

A monumental issue
No matter the content, and even ignoring the wealth of talent who are involved, a thousand issues is a big deal. Amazing Spider-Man will be the first Marvel title to hit 1000 and it is an incredible achievement.
Spider-Man has had so many incredible stories that have inspired and entertained millions. Long may it continue.
